Here is an Infrared satellite image... it is really just a picture of
temperatures. A special camera on the GOES satellite takes infrared
pictures. In this picture warm areas show up as dark... cold areas gray and
real cold areas show up as bright white. The higher a cloud is, the colder
it is, so, really high clouds are real cold and show up as bright white.... so
do the tops of tall thunderstorms.

Are you able spot any thunderstorms in this picture?
How about some high stringy cirrus clouds? They usually form near the jet
stream. Look at the oceans... can you tell where the water is warm and where
it is colder?
